Disc film was a still-photography film format aimed at the consumer market, and introduced by Kodak in 1982 and discontinued in 1991. There were several different manufacturers of Disc Camera that took Disc film. Kodak  3M, Konica and Fuji produced Disc film. While Kodak film was always eponymous, 3M and Konica made Disc film for many third parties, branded with the retailers logo.

The film was in the form of a flat disc, and was fully housed within a plastic cartridge. Each disc held fifteen 11 × 8 mm exposures, arranged around the outside of the disc, with the disc being rotated 24° between each image.

ABOUT OUR DISC FILM SERVICE

We provide you with high quality Prints and files as an opton of a quality that was not possible with the technology during the years of disc film production. We do not use old analogue disc film printers. Instead .....

Your Negatives will be…

  • After developing  yourfilm they are manually cleaned in PhotoShop — ie not using any auto features like “Digital Ice” dust removal software even though our scanners are equipped with it. Dust removal is done manually to eliminate the artifacting that can be created by the Digital Ice technology when scanning such small images.
  • Scanned at 3200 DPI — Enough resolution to capture all the detail in the small negative.
  • Cropped by eye precisely to the edge of each image revealing about 15 percent more of each picture than the original prints made from the negative
  • Scaled to create a file that is 8×10 at 300 DPI so there is no pixelation on blow-ups well beyond the size the tiny negatives were intended for.
  • Manually color corrected.
  • Noise reduced to eliminate some of the grain that is apparent due to the tiny negative.
  • Sharpened to give as crisp an image as possible from the tiny negative.
